Every Class Council serves as an entity separate from the main Student Government Association. Each works as it's own student organization, headed by each class president. The class presidents and senators also serve in Joint Session to update the SGA on the goings-on of each class and represent the interests of their class.
The structure of each Class Council depends on the class and its constitution, but typically each has its own vice president, treasurer, and secretary. Other Class Councils may have additional positions as they deem necessary.
Freshman Class Council
The freshman class exists without a traditional class council the first half of the academic year. Instead, each fall, the Freshman Class Council (FCC) program works to prepare any interested new students for leadership roles on campus. They work with classmates to build their understanding and knowledge of the college, their own leadership strengths and weaknesses, and so on, under the guidance of FCC facilitators. They also draft the constitution for their class, to be reviewed and potentially approved by the Class Council that gets voted in with the Winter Elections.
It is not a requirement to participate in FCC to run for the class council positions.
